Job Description

If managing imports, coordinating freight, and ensuring compliance is your strength, you could be our next Import Controller -Airfreight.

This role is based at our Cape Town Office - Airport City

Education

  • Matric
  • 1-year freight forwarding related qualification at NQF level 3 and 4

Knowledge and experience

  • 3 – 5 years import experience in the Clearing and Forwarding Industry in a clerical capacity

  • INCO Terms

  • Commercial, transport, carrier & depot and statutory body documents & stamps

  • Product specific freight handling & movement requirements

  • Basic international trade principles

  • Applicable sections of Import & Export control Act

  • Containerisation practice

  • Geography

  • Functional business objectives and strategies

  • Company service charge

  • Rate structure

  • Carrier & depot conditions of trade

  • Tariff calculation concepts

  • National currencies and international codes

  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel and Lotus)

  • Good Interpersonal skills.Good communication skills (written &verbal

  • Situation analysis and problem solving

  • Client orientation

  • Accuracy, Punctual and attention to detail

Overall responsibilities include 

  • Plan the freight movement of imported cargo
  • Coordinate freight movement and customs clearance of import cargo
  • Administration of shipment file
  • Process insurance claims
  • Effect creditors disbursements and process debtors invoices
  • Co-ordinate the customs clearance of bond store cargo
